SUMMARY:Conférence internationale | Heritage and the Metropolis
DESCRIPTION:Heritage dynamics in the urban peripheries\nHow might we study and understand metropolises and heritage as not just things\, but forces for\, and processes of\, change? How might these two dynamics intersect with and model one another? \nMetropolitan cities are well understood to be in the course of constant change: cities expand\, and swallow up other ones; new connections are formed; new consciousnesses come into being. SUMMARY:Exposition | ALT-HER. La patrimonialisation alternative des vestiges industriels
DESCRIPTION:L’exposition ALT-HER est le résultat d’une recherche sur la patrimonialisation des vestiges industriels des périphéries de Plaine Commune à partir de l’étude de l’Usine Babcock\, située à La Courneuve. Ce site\, en pleine mutation\, est au cœur de grands projets de rénovation urbaine. Comme pour plusieurs anciens sites industriels de Plaine Commune\, la proximité de l’usine Babcock avec Paris en fait un enjeu foncier majeur dans les dynamiques métropolitaines actuelles. \nLe projet ALT-HER pose l’hypothèse selon laquelle d’anciens sites industriels comme Babcock connaissent des patrimonialisations alternatives. Ces patrimonialisations alternatives s’expriment via des pratiques informelles\, voire illégales\, menées par des acteurs locaux non-institutionnels – parmi lesquelles les pratiques d’urbex\, d’artistes\, notamment\, graffeurs\, et de collectifs – et dont la vision patrimoniale ne fait pas toujours consensus. \nÀ Babcock\, deux années de recherche ont permis de mettre en lumière\, l’articulation entre ces pratiques et la préservation de la mémoire ouvrière. En effet\, l’attention et la sensibilité portées au lieu\, aux objets retrouvés\, parfois à leur conservation\, voire valorisation\, s’assimile à un processus de patrimonialisation alternatif. \nDans le même temps\, ces pratiques patrimoniales semblent s’opposer à la disparition de la mémoire ouvrière à Plaine Commune. Dans le contexte d’une métropolisation rapide\, elles seraient donc porteuses d’autres revendications de préservation pour le territoire. \nCette exposition met en lumière la préservation de la mémoire ouvrière par des pratiques artistiques. Elle présente la manière dont des acteurs contemporains mobilisent la mémoire ouvrière\, mettent en valeur un lieu et des aspects de l’histoire.
