Abstract
This conference will analyse the bodily and emotional inscription of colonial legacies in contemporary subjectivities. Bringing together psychology, psychoanalysis, history, sociology, post/decolonial, feminist, and queer studies, the project examines how race, gender, class, and sexuality intertwine in the making of identities, shaping sensibilities, mentalhealth, and relationships to the body. Through an international conference and interdisciplinary workshops, it will investigate individual and collective strategies of resistance, adaptation, and reinvention in the face of norms inherited from coloniality. Drawing on Southern epistemologies and the metaphor of weaving and métissag, it will explore the transmission and transformation of bodily traces, memories, and affects, with the aim of developing situated conceptual and practical tools. This conference adopts an inter- and transdisciplinary approach to create a fertile space for dialogue between different epistemologies.
